trying to remember why I emailed these to myself

[Sun, 07 Dec 2014 15:27:22 +0000]
Sometimes, while at the bar or hanging out with folks I email things to myself - the name of the bartender, a movie or book someone recommended, etc. Often, I'd come across something at work and email a link from my work email to my personal email account. Over time, I've forgotten about many of these things. But since I need to clean up my email box, I'm just going to post them here so that they can languish in another medium. Software * Overview Project [http://overview.ap.org/] for document visualization. * Essentia [http://essentia.upf.edu/documentation/python_tutorial.html] for audio analysis. Books, etc. * Blood Meridian [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Meridian] * The journal of a tour made by Señor Juan de Vega [pseud.] the Spanish minstrel of 1828-9, through Great Britain and Ireland, a character assumed by an English gentleman. Film * Last Days Here [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Days_Here]: music documentary. * Andy Summers, 'Equinox' [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Nxe9moYblw] + Saw this when I was a teenager on the Discovery Channel. I'd been looking for it for years. * Spiderman - Revolt in the Fifth Dimension [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75TiGaIqnyY&feature=youtu.be] + From the description: This story, along with its characters and backgrounds, was taken from the Rocket Robin Hood episode "Dimentia Five [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8_2GUXnPu4]." + These should be required viewing by librarians, especially those interested in digitization, etc. Quotes * "Force has no place where there is need of skill." — Herodotus + This is very similar to Fernando Sor [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Sor]'s principal of gaining more from skill than from strength with regard to guitar playing. Interesting. I often take note of what I am afraid I would forget, too. And sometimes I find those notes after a lot of time, forgetting -oddly- the reasons or the context in which I jotted them. Nice to share.
